Enamel shaping is one of the many terms used to describe a process of shaping
natural teeth to improve their appearance. It is also known as
odontoplasty, enameloplasty, stripping, recontouring, slenderizing and
re-shaping.
When teeth become crowded or uneven or incisal edges appear rough, enamel
shaping may be used to correct the flaw. This process cannot solve all
problems, however. Sometimes more extensive treatment is necessary or
re-shaping may be used in conjunction with other treatments.
Enamel shaping is usually quick and painless. Anesthesia is not
necessary and the results can be seen immediately.
