On your first visit to our
office you will meet with Dr. Boyd in her private office and talk. She
will review with you your current oral problems, previous dental care, any fears and concerns you may
have about treatment, and your medical history, including current
medications.
You will then go into an
operatory where you will have your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature taken,
along with a full mouth set of x-rays,
if full mouth series not available from another dentist within the past
three years. Dr. Boyd will then give you a head
and neck examination, which evaluates your temperomandibular joints (TMJ), head
and neck muscles, and lymph nodes. Next, she will examine inside your mouth
for several diseases, which include oral cancer, caries (cavities), periodontal
disease (gum disease),
excessive wear, position, mobility, and the condition of existing
restorations. She will then show you all of her findings inside your mouth
on an intraoral camera. The two of you will return to her office where your
x-rays will be read and a treatment plan will be developed. Questions you
have will be answered. Following this, you will meet with Debbi or Barbara, who will
provide you with a written treatment plan and financial information. This entire
process takes about one hour and is quite thorough in order to provide you with
the highest quality of care.
